Just found out!Views: 172

I don’t even know if I belong on this blog. I haven’t survived anything yet. I just found out on Thursday that I have what are consistent with liver metastases. Don’t even know where the primary is. Have a colon consult scheduled for Tuesday and chest and pelvic CTs scheduled for Wednesday and am trying to schedule a mammogram ASAP. I’ve been trying to keep a good attitude, as I know that’s important, but woke up this morning anxious and close to tears. I’m sure everyone out there has had the same emotions. Luckily I work for physicians and they are very supportive, but what can they do when we don’t know yet where the primary is. I work for the local Medical Examiner (Dr G, if you’ve seen her show on TV). Luckily, when and if things get bad, I’ll know where to get the best advise. I know I’m rambling but I guess I need someone to talk to that knows what I’m feeling. My name is Anita and I live in Florida. I’m 66 years old and I love Tom Jones. His music is all that brings my spirits up. Ramblng again. Please answer. I’ll be listening to TJ.

Welcome to the group Anita. You found the right place to ask questions, find information and just to vent. If you can try and bring someone with you to the doctor visits. Sometimes it hard to remember all they say. It was such a blur. My doctor was nice to put my mom on the phone with us when he went over the news.

Anita,
Welcome to Blog for a Cure family. Here, you will get so much support from those who have been going through similar situations, you don’t feel so alone and scared. I know how you feel, shock, waiting and not knowing are so hard. When I was diagnosed back in August, I was a complete panic. Time felt like forever when I want to know the details of what’s going on with my body. Ir must be difficult for you, especially when you don’t know where the primary is. Did the doctor confirm it is metastatic Cancer? Or is there any possibility it could be something other than cancer? my prayers and thoughts are with you. Please keep us posted.

Hugs,
Yuyu

One of my problems is that I have worked for physicians all of my life. I am a Medical Transcriptionist. I really that you for your comments. The CT of my abdomen (which by the way I requested because a previous CT showed a small aortic aneurysm and I wanted to make sure it was not about to do any harm) showed 10-12 “nodules” in my liver that were “most consistent with hepatic metastasis”. Sometimes a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I keep wracking my brain as to what else they could be, but none of the doctors that I work for had any alternatives. So, the next two weeks will probably be very informative. I really thank you Jill and Yuyu for your prompt comments. I really lucked out with this blog. Will keep in touch.

Anita,

You are in the right spot, I know it is hard, but the next week will fly by. I had to wait just about 7 days to get all my scans and test done this summer, before we could even treat my primary cancer. I would try and just get out, you do live in Florida. No need to worry until you know the primary and know where to start. Please keep us up to date.

Best Wishes,

EyeCandy (Paul)

Wow, you guys are great! Thanks so much for your support. God must have lead me to this site, I’m beginning to feel a lot better. Of course, I’ll keep you informed as soon as I get information. Thanks, Anita

Anita,

A few words from your friend Tom Jones:

To live for today and to love for tomorrow is the wisdom of a fool, because tomorrow is promised to no one. – Tom Jones

We are here for you!

Cheers,

EyeCandy (Paul)

P.S. You have must feel blessed to have such a beutiful family!

You made me laugh! That’s from one of my favorite Tom songs. Thanks for the compliment, that’s half my family…I have another son and two grandsons. The graduate, Caitlin, is my granddaughter. The little one, Harley is my great granddaughter from one of my other son’s oldest son…they don’t pose for pictures much. Were you in the Service? My son in the picture with me just got out of the Air Force in March. They live in Colorado.

You too have a beautiful family…wow, all girls and a lovely wife. I wanted a boy so much but had to wait for my 3rd grandchild and now I have two girls. The boys will come eventually…then you can play football or baseball and go to little league games. Cheers, Anita

Hi, Anita! Welcome to the family. How scary for you to not know for sure what you are dealing with. Waiting for test results is the hardest-I’m sure you know that already. That is a big beautiful family you have. Do they live near?

Thanks for the support. I live in Winter Park Florida…not to close to Texas. Hope you are doing well. Right now I’m listening to Tom Jones singing You’ll Never Walk Alone on YouTube. It’s very uplifting and I can’t believe the support on this web site. Thanks to all of you. We really will never walk alone. Anita

Dear Anita,

Welcome to our wonderful community! I am so sorry for what you are going through. We’re here for you in good times and bad.

I just finished reading your blog entry, then I looked over and my husband was reading an article about Tom Jones! It is in today’s Parade Magazine. If you didn’t get it in your paper today, you should ask someone to pick it up for you!

I will be praying for you and hoping that you get great news with every test.

Peace,
Kathy

Hi Curlygirl:

Thank you so much for your good wishes…I’m sure I will need them. I need to get that Parade magazine, thanks. Tom’s voice is one of the things that brings me joy…I have a trip scheduled to see him in Vegas at the end of January and I am determined to be there. I listened to him sing You’ll Never Walk Alone all day yesterday.

I know I have a long row to hoe, but with the support on this blog and that of my friends and relatives I am confident that I will make it.

Anita

Hi Anita,

Sometimes just rambling on … makes me feel better. So please continue rambling and … sharing.

Welcome,
Daria
